Careful, I close my laptop.

Shutting out the world wide web. Tuning into the here and now.

Careful, I dress the children.

On go their pants, shirts, socks and shoes. On go their coats. Out the door they go to play.

Careful, I vacuum the living room.

Cleaning the edges. Under the couch cushions. Every last cracker and crumb. Gone.

Careful, I take care of the laundry.

Sorting. Folding. Putting away. The task goes on forever. The enormous chore is done.

Careful, I sanitize the hamper.

Filling the tub. Pouring the bleach. Soaking the container. Scrubbing. Just like new.

Careful, I rest.

Laying on the floor. Arms outstretched. Feeling the pain course through my body.

Careful, I rise.

Not giving up. Back on my feet. Pushing on. Being better than yesterday.
